Nice to see Steve made captain this year..It was also nice to hear Masterson say he liked to have local kids as captains....Do most teams name locals captains,if not its a good idea

Nice idea by Masterson. Is this something new for him or has he always followed this process to select the Canucks captains ?( when possible )

he has usually always followed this way of picking his leader of the team. Last year is was macleod and the year before that, crawford. both of them are nf boys. look for ludzik to be captain for the next few years and then the torch being passed to one of their younger kids

He always has the "C" on a local kid but the "A"'s are a bit of a different story! This year is better cuz lazich is a nf boy, mckeowan played here before and is local and francis served his time here last year so he deserves it! But other years like last year, terry will sometimes give the "A" out to a player just to bring him in like he did with Chad McCaffery

Huh? Hard to make out out Falls Fan Two was trying to say. Any team would be happy to have Chad McCaffery if he had another year left. Instant offence. Falls was lacking speed at defence last year.

ludzik was a great role model to the young players on the team, you could tell he is leading that team in the right direction

no..steve ludzik was drafted by windsor and then they dropped his rights but his brother ryan ludzik is going to the erie otters!
McCaffery was a good hockey player but an off-ice cancer to the team!
I've heard of two big guys coming back from the OHL to go along with their 11 returnees plus McKeowan! Canucks camp doesnt start until this sunday so nobody knows who will be out there!

because the shoe is a great league and Niagara Falls is a great team why would he move onto a Tier II team that probably isn't as good or has the same amount of money as the canucks. There's no difference from the horseshoe to Tier II, thats why he hasn't moved on and hasn't went to the O because he probably wants to go the school route.

Hey Thorold Fan, you say there is no difference between Tier 2 and the Golden Horseshoe .
I think you're spending too much time at the Kissing Rock and drinking way too much Canal water.

lol no i'm completely right, with the exception of a few elite tier II teams, ie - Hamilton, St.Mikes, Georgetown, there's no difference from the horseshoe to Tier II, there are 35 teams in the OPJHL and 30 of those teams would be average teams in the horseshoe, they would obviously beat fort erie, wheatfield and stoney creek but they are not as good as the big 3 teams in the shoe and equal to port colborne and welland. With the number of teams in tier II the league is watered down very much and if you go watch some teams play with the exception of the elite teams in tier II that i mentioned you'd see that i'm right. Teams like bancroft, ajax, oshawa, thornhill, lindsay, peterborough, streetsville, bramalea, couchiching, mississauga could not skate with the canucks or thorold or even st.kitts but they would do alright and be 4th or 5th place teams if they played in the shoe. so my point is with the exception of about 5 teams there's no difference from the golden horseshoe jr.B league to the OPJHL Tier II.

Thorold Fan, you mention how the weak teams from our league would only fair ok against the weaker teams in your league and would not compete with the top three in the Shoe. Truth is the top four or five teams in Tier 2 would absolutely destroy the top three teams from your jr.b league.
When you want to compare leagues you should compare the strong teams not the weak ones. If you know hockey (and I believe you do) you would realize the top teams in Tier 2 are much stronger then any jr.b team in Ontario.
This is not a knock against jr. b hockey but the top three in the shoe would only be in the middle of the pack in Tier 2.

So why do players that can't make the top teams in the shoe and players who don't get alot the ice time go to tier 2 ? Sounds to me that tier 2 is over rated ?

You people have no idea how good teams like oakville, st.mikes and georgetown really are. Its unreal the difference, the speed and quickness is much faster and the players are unreal.

Hoping Ludzik has a break out year this season. He's probably the first one to admit he was low on points last year even with the injury.

people shouldnt depend completely on ludzik, im sure hes going to have a great season, but if the canucks want to win, their returners have to put up numbers

Marcus Johnston realizes how good Tier 2 is. He called the Canucks today to confirm summer's speculation, that he has committed to Oakville Tier 2 club.
Sean Romanauskas from Thorold would be a good fit, if young Ludzik sticks in Erie.

Marcus Johnson not coming back will not hurt the falls team. He was unable to win the big games and the teams in the shoe knew it. Maybe going to Oakville will help his confidence. Good luck Marcus in Oakville.

Hey firemen the canucks goalie going to tier 2 is it a promotion or a demotion. Ask the falls fans

Was hoping that young Ryan was back this year. Johnson was never able to take the Falls to the next level. Lets take a chance with another goalie. Goalie's got to steel a few to get you to the Suthie.
