What is the Rylands kid doing this year?
Is he back in Ft. Erie or is he going Tier 2?

fort erie made a great trade in getting zatorski its too bad that he is going to mississauga. i wish him the best of luck in the future. Rylands would be smart to go tier 2 fort erie is going to be (edit) this year again, they made two great trades last year and still couldnt do nething. i guess tony doesnt know what to do when he has an all star defenceman like zatorski and a good forward like smith in his lineup. long season for the meteors again.

port stuck it to zatorski, they should of made a deal with welland, so he could play in his home town, something smells with this one, just another part of the new sailor regime,,at least he is out of port and doing his best wherever he should end up,,,,

F.Y.I To start with , Jeff requested a trade from the Port Colborne Sailors. We did approach Welland as well as Fort Erie.Welland offered what was at the time a third line center at best and Fort Erie offered a first line center so what deal would you make??This trade was very difficult because Jeff is a very good kid and put in a few good years with the Sailors but to say that the Sailors screwed him is completely idiotic.

this is what port colborne says but ask the people in the front office of welland and they will tell you different. When the port colborne sailors want three first line players from welland for one defenceman thats rediculous. Zatorski wasnt traded to welland because port knew that he would hurt them in the long run, so they did what any bad organization would do and trade him to a last place team. Its really low that a team wouldnt trade a kid to play in his own hometown, after he played three seasons with the port organization.

So, jr b fan, just what did Welland front office say? That they offered the farm? Just what did Welland have to trade? If a player walks in and asks to be traded, I would assume you would accomodate them, putting your team first in the trade( as a good GM should). Should, or would, you just give him to the home town team just to be nice? I think every thing worked out well for all concerned.................Jeff moved on to tier II and Port still has two players from the trade. Pretty fair on both accounts, don't you think?

Here's what i think the Jeff Zatorski situation boiled down to. Jeff wanted to be traded because of the simple reason that port brought in 2 hacker defenceman that port thought would be the great old mighty thing. What i heard was that Jeff was negotiating with Al Beck to go to welland. It was a deal that al agreed upon but stabbed him in the back by trading him to a last place team. In my opinion jeff i think would of helped port in the playoffs, he had 5 points in 4 games with the meteors against n.f and the team was swept 4 straight. Now what were stauths points and firths points? probably 1 if they were lucky and they played 2 rounds of playoff hockey. Wasnt stauth cut from mississauga? the team Jeff is playing on.

First of all. for the record, why would I stab Jeff in the back when he is dating my daughter and I think Jeff is a great kid on and off the ice!!!!Yes he did come to me and ask for a trade with no real preferences but obviously would love to play at home in Welland. The best deal for the Port Colborne Sailors came from the Fort Erie Meteors and not Welland. When you have an opportunity to acquire a talent like Drew Minor , I believe that you would have made the same deal.Welland did make an offer but the talent level of the offer was not even close to what Fort Erie offered so as I said in the prior post,What deal would you have made.Jeff is a great defenceman and if you know him, he has always had a burning desire to move to provincial "A" an in fact came very close to makng the Hamilton lineup 2 years ago so those are the facts. Before placing my name on something that states "I screwed a kid" , come and see me and we can talk in person and I will gladly give you the whole story.

A GM has always got to put the needs of his team first. In trading a player, he better go with the deal that will bring the best players to his team. If he doesn't, he isn't a very good GM. It sounds like Al did exactly what a good GM should do.
