Just read in the St. Catharines Standard that the Thorold Blackhawks are retiring J.J. Martins #8 jersey tommorrow night vs. Elmira. They retired Chris Risi's jersey last year and now J.J.'s. Two players that well deserved to have their jerseys retired. Gave Thorold their all and brought a Suthy to Thorold. Kudo's to Rocky, Dave and Mike for a classy move in honouring some of Thorold's finest Blackhawks. Keep up the great work guys. Don't let some of the morons on this site keep you from what you are doing. You have done Thorold proud once again by winning the G.H.L and possibly another Suthy. Regardless what happens from here on in, you put together a great team and should be proud of it. Good Luck the rest of the way.

Couldn't agree with you more icedog. I don't know Rocky, Dave and Mike personally but I do attend all the Thorold games. I have often talked to them in the arena and you couldn't ask for any finer gentlemen than those guys. They are great hockey guys and do their job well. Congratulations to the three of you for bringing a championship to Thorold once again. Classy move on retiring some of Thorold's great hockey players. Good Luck tomorrow night.

I guess Ward is done for the season because im sure they wouldn't take his # away if he were playing.. Can anyone tell me who was on the line with JJ.. I remember Hedden who i thought was great ..Should be a good game tonight.This is desperation hockey for sure..

hockeydoc - Heard the Hawks G.M. on CHSC radio this morning talking about the game tonight. He said Ward is 100% and got the clearance to play. He is definitely in the lineup tonight. Knowing the type of guy Ward is, I don't think he would have a problem with retiring his number to J.J. After all it is Wards last year and I'm sure he is well aware what J.J. has done for the Hawks. Like you said, should be a great game tonight. Hawks should come out flying.

Well Hockeynut ,thats great news for the Hawks having the captain and best d back in the line-up..Maybe thats just what they need to turn things around for them.. I don't know Ward but i can say you are right about him and his #he is probably a great Character guy that is why they made him Captain...Good Luck Hawks.. Hope to see you tonight.

that line was the best in the sutherland cup.. hedden Martin and Smudder ... smudder was named the sutherland cup mvp and obviously jj s presence and heddens was felt every game until hedden was suspended
