Well next year will be a different team from this year. It looks like the players set to return next season are:
In Goal Lobsinger (Overager) Volpe
Defence Day (Overager) Maione Schiestel Traccitto Pietrangelo (about 75% certain but could be in the NHL) Gilbert (played a handful of games as a call up)
Forward Fletcher (Overager - played D last year but will play forward next year) Agozzino DeSousa Friesen MacEachern Merrett Sanderson Sisca
At first glance, I would say they will be very strong in the backend but will lack both size and scoring upfront.
Any thoughts?

Let's hoe they make far better use of the 3 overage spots than that. Keep Day, that a given but using an overage spot on a fighter and a below average tender doesn't make sense.
Providing Petro, Day, Schiestel, Traccitto and Maione are all back they will have the best D core in the CHL. Agozzino, DeSousa, Friesen, Merrett and Sanderson should all be good for 20+ goals. Guys will have to step up. Look at Caputi's and Legein's stats from 2 years ago to last year. Both went from doing almost nothing to being very good almost over night. I think the strong draft this team had 2 years a go when they netted Petro, Desousa, MacEachern, Sanderson, Sisca, Maione, (Van Laren) and Volpe as well as the two solid players they got last year will make them decent for the next 2 years. Add 1 scoring overager and a solid overage goalie and things look good. Maybe not as good as this years team, but close.

I actually like Fletcher as a defenceman. Tough, can use the body well, and pretty solid defensively but not offensive at all. This makes me question putting him as a forward. He will be good in the corners and will be hard to move from in front of the net. But will he be able to score? Perhaps they are thinking of putting him on the checking line but is he fast enough to keep up with the best forwards in the league? I would rather see them keep him on defense and perhaps trade another defenseman for a real forward.
I do think there will be a lot of trades this summer involving the Dogs. Brown already stated that the team will get bigger through the draft, free agent signings and trades. I think that 2 or 3 of the small returning forwards will not be returning to the dogs but to another OHL team via trades.
I really think that goaltending is a question mark at this time. I have been told that Lobsinger was pretty solid before his 2 knee surgeries. If he can return to form, Lobsinger will be one of the top goalies on the league. If not, another trade is needed.

I've been told that Fletcher, Day and Bergeron have been invited back as overagers. Lobsinger is the odd man out, although I think they can carry 4 overage players but can only dress 3 up till around Christmas time.

I'm a little torn also about moving Fletcher to forward. I think he is a good defensive Dman but in today's hockey they want offensive Dmen and they aren't looking for just D. In some of the games I've seen he has a decent point shot but doesn't use it much, I have also had discussions with him and he views himself as a safety net supporting the more offensive Dmen. Plus they don't want Dmen fighting, that's left to the grinding forwards. I heard he is getting an invite to a NHL team out west that's looking for toughness and if he fares well they will probably request moving him forward anyway, just like Peluso. I have seen him in practice a few times this year playing forward and he looked fairly decent and can get goals. If anyone remembers they used him once this year in a game with just seconds left, they parked him in front of the goal, they won the face off, he was able to bat the puck down on a high shot but the trailing forward couldn't bury it. They couldn't move him from the front of the net.
