From the St. Catharines Standard:
Ice Dogs this week
Tonight: At home versus Erie, 7:30 p.m.: The Otters bring up the rear of the Ontario Hockey League standings with a 10-32-2-1 mark. The IceDogs defeated the Otters 6-3 and 6-4 in their previous two meetings. The Otters feature two defencemen with local connections - former Thorold Blackhawk Paul Cianfrini (1-7-8) and Grimsby native Mitch Gaulton (2-5-7). As well, Niagara Falls native Mark Jeanneret, son of Buffalo Sabres play-by-play man Rick Jeanneret, is the voice of the Otters.
Friday: At Kingston, 7:30 p.m. The Frontenacs are ranked 18th out of 20 teams with a 12-29-0-1 mark. Niagara has defeated Kingston 5-3 and 8-2 in their two matchups this season.
Sunday: At home versus Sarnia, 7 p.m. This game will be broadcast across Canada on SportsNet and will feature two of the top prospects for the 2008 NHL draft, Sarnia's Steve Stamkos and Niagara's Alex Pietrangelo. Both are expected to be selected in the top five. The Sting topped the IceDogs 5-1 in the lone meeting between the teams this year. Sarnia entered the week with a 24-18-2-0 mark.
Wednesday: At Mississauga, 7 p.m. A rare midweek game for the IceDogs, who return to their former home, the Hershey Centre. Niagara won the first three games this season 4-1, 7-3 and 10-2 before the Majors got a measure of revenge with a 4-2 win Dec. 9. Mississauga's record is .500 at 22-22-1-0.
