A friend who attended the game yesterday asked me if the players get paid. I know the players are given money for education, but are they also given a salary? With regards to education money, do they all get the same amount? What happens if they don't attend post secondary school. Do they get a percentage of the money anyway, like with scholarship plans?

Players are paid. Their education package kicks in once they leave the OHL within 18 months. However a player is paid for his services but that is negotiated depending on what round he was drafted in.They also pay for university or college while they are playing for their team. If by chance they sign a pro contract they forfeit their education package from their club

I didn't realized they get paid anything. How much are we talking about. Is it like 50 bucks a week or like $500 a week. Also, is this done under the table or is everything open. Since OHL players are not eligible for scholarships I wouldn't think there would be a need to hide anything.

I think I remember reading that they get a weekly allowance, but it isn't much. Something like $50-$75 each week. I think overage players get paid a few hundred a week since minor pro is an option for these players. But don't quote me on this!

They usually get between 100 to 200 every two weeks, plus if one of older boys drives a rookie around he will be compensated for that.It is all above board as the boy will get a T4 slip at years end for his taxes. This is why boys have to decide if they want the OHL to school as they are running a business and they cannot hide anything not like JR.B
