Good Afternoon Everyone
Our 1st Annual Teddy Bear Toss has been confirmed and will take place on
Friday, December 14th when we take on the Barrie Colts.
For those who are not familiar with the concept, the Teddy Bear Toss is an
annual event hosted by essentially every team in the Canadian Hockey League.
All fans in attendance are encouraged to bring any new or gently used teddy
bear to the game and throw them on the ice after our first goal. The
Niagara Regional Police Foundation has volunteered to assist the Niagara
Victim Crisis Support Services in getting the teddy bears out to children
involved in crisis. The N.V.C.S.S. is an independent organization that
works in conjunction with local police, fire, and paramedic crews to assist
those in need. For more information, please visit
www.niagaravictimservice.com or google "Teddy Bear Toss" to learn more about
this successful event.
I believe the record for an event of this nature was about 17,000 bears that
were collected at a rink out West last season. We would really like to see
this as a successful event in Niagara as well, so if we can get an average
of one bear per person, we could conceivably end up with upwards of 3,000+
bears, which would be a tremendous donation. Not to mention the show of
support to our boys for this worth while charity. The N.V.C.S.S. is a
tremendous organization and this is a great opportunity for our communities
to come together and help those children who are sadly forced to deal with
difficult and traumatic events at such a young age.
If there are any questions regarding this game, or any other upcoming
events, please feel free to contact me any time.
Thanks and have a great week!!
