Not the greatest day in the Dogs short history. First a trade that is very hard to understand and then a awful game against a division rival. The big guns just did not bring it tonight. I thought guys like Merret, Desousa, Sanderson and Traccitto all had very strong games but with the exception of Loverock the rest of the team stunk.
Why is Bergeron still on the second line, or even in the lineup for that matter? He looks lost out there.
Why does Legein take a ten minute misconduct every game?
I really think Swift should play with at least one of Legein or Caputi, he is being wasted. Foreman plays hard but doesn't have the hands to play first line center on a team that has Swift. He failed to cash in several quality chances tonight.

Yes the game tonight was terrible. Bad effort, small crowd, quiet fans, generally a bad night.
Personally, I don't see them getting much more than 2000 on the Thursdays. Most families won't go since its a school night, assuming families can even afford to attend with the high ticket prices. A 7:00 start on a school night makes more sense to me.

I get people saying Sunday afternoon is a problem. I love football and it kills me to have to miss it more often then not. It's also a family day for a lot of people. I just can't see Thursday night being a problem for most people. I like the 7:30 starts as well. I'm still easily home before 10:30. If they can't draw on Thursday nights, I think it's more a case of them not having a large enough fan base. Hopefully later on the in the year interest will grow and the house will begin to fill up. People need to decide if they want this team here. If they do, they have to stop making excuses and start going to games. I know several people in the area who are big hockey fans who haven't been to a game yet. I just don't understand it. They really don't know what they are missing.
On a side note: I went to the game in Brampton on Monday and tickets are basically the same price. The crown was right around 2000, just like it is here. The only difference is the Icedogs do way better at the concession stands then Brampton does. Burke may be slightly disappointed in the crowd size, but is more than likely very happy about how much the people that are there are spending.

I just can't see Thursday night being a problem for most people. I think Sunday afternoon will draw better than Thursday, although there are problems with both days. Its hard for people with young kids to go on a weeknight. By the time the kids get home after the game and get to bed, its close to 11:00. That is too late for most children when there is school the next day. I remember when the Thunder played. They seemed to draw decent on Saturday nights (2200-2500) but usually had less than 2000 for the Thursday night games. Perhaps moving game times to 7:00 on Thursdays will help slightly.

Boy, I'll bet they would just kill to get a hold of Friday nights. That is traditionally "hockey night" (in this city, anyway).
I don't see the Falcons (willingly) giving it up...ever.

To the Bat fans who thinks the Battalion are way better than the Dogs....Please give your head a "shake"
Having said that here are some thoughts on the game.
Butler was not the coach of Team Canada for no good reason. His game plan was played out to perfection. The Bats learned from the past games and shut down the speed of the Dogs by clogging up the neutral zone. "perfect trap" game in a small rink......The Brampton goalie played outstanding making 6 key stops ......Some fine hits by both teams players....Duchene is a player I just love watching, but you have a great head on your shoulder so keep it up crossing the Blue Line Son if you want to keep it. Great Hit .....The IceDogs did not play to bad but where held in check by a fine Battalion team.....This will be a great rivalry. Finally a playoff round between the two could be in the works....
My final thought would be I hope the Brampton fans do not only look through green coloured glasses....

Unfortunately it has little to do with the Falcons. Friday night games for new teams in the OHL are rarely available since teams that currently play on Friday's are reluctant to give these dates up and Friday dates are at a premium. It's difficult to get them except for the odd few. (Only two for the IceDogs this year). Brampton and the IceDogs were the last expansion teams in the OHL and they got the choice of what dates were left.
