Stefan Manojlovic to the Sudbury Wolves for an 11th round pick in the 2008 OHL draft and Jadran Beljo to the London Knights in exchange for a 6th Round Pick in the 2009 OHL Draft.
I suppose an 11th rounder for someone not on the roster is better than nothing. Manojlovic played 20 games last season with the club (before an injury) and has spent this year with the Hamilton Red Wings.
However, Beljo, originally a 2nd rounder, is an overager who had 36 goals and 79 points last year, should immediately add some scoring punch to a lowly Knights team this year. I realize that Beljo was sitting at home and not on our game roster, but it would have been nice if we could have gotten more than a 6th round pick. It must have been difficult for Dave Brown to find much value for an overager, but he is a productive player.
At the very least we are getting some prospective players for the future, even though it's not every day that a 6th and 11th pick make the team...
Your thought???

I didn't know about the Beljo trade. That ones tough to explain. The Dogs gave London a really good d-man in Martine for an overager (Foreman) who's stats were no where near Beljo's. I just hope they have someone in mind to fill the vacant overager spot. A scoring winger to play with Swift is needed.

Why not a 2008 pick? I think deals like this are usually reserved for 4th line players, not 1st line players. I would imagine OA players are hard to trade but even so, they should have done better than a 6th rounder 2 years from now.

The team got even value for Beljo, Brown knows what he is doing. Example.. look at the IceDogs the last two seasons. This is "HIS TEAM" which is doing just fine.......NO?

True, but don't you think Beljo will help London more than a 6th rounder will help the IceDogs? How many 6th rounders even make their OHL team. Sorry but I don't get this trade at all. Basically the IceDogs gave him away for nothing. So if any other IceDogs are unhappy just make a fuss and I'm sure they will also be traded away for peanuts.

Good to see that Stephan has been traded, at least get some ice time. Problem with the dogs and it will come back to bite them in the rear is they play the crap of the first two lines. Come crunch time when you need more than two lines playing, it will be another early exit similiar to last year. Giving up a 36 goal scorer for nothing well only time will tell. Hopefully noone gets hurt and then have to rely on someone already there to provide some scoring punch. Not that he was given a shot but Josh McQuade is presently lighting up the Jr. A tier II league. He definitely would have helped and he was an 89 which meant a possible 3 years. Oh I forgot he wasn't drafted so why take a chance. duh

Yea basically a give away, you really have to scratch your head about this one... a 6th rounder for a 36 goal scorer. This is the best Brown could do? There must have been better offers, but from top teams who might come back to hurt the Icedogs in the playoffs. The way the Knights are going this year without any wins, Beljo has less chance of coming back in biting the Icedogs in the a$$. After last nights game, if I was the owner I'd be asking, "was every effort made to work things out with Beljo"? They sure could have used him.

I wouldn't count London out just yet. There is a very good chance Gagner will be back before long. He was a healthy scratch the other night against Minny. Small 18 year olds don't stick in the show very often. Kane may even be back, athough he's off to a nice start. I would think with this trade if they get either of those 2 back, they will be as good as anyone. It's a stupid trade anyway you look at it. What are they going to do about filling the overager slot? They need to fill it with an impact player. They were depending on Bergeron to be a big time producer and that's just not going to happen.

Have faith in Brown, believe me he knows what he is doing. I have a question, Have you ever seen Belj play?

Three goals in 3 games for Beljo and last nights game winner against the Dogs was the game breaker. Hope that packed house keep coming back.
