I'm thinking of going to a few away games this year to see the IceDogs play. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what places would be the best to go, either because the arena is nice or the atmosphere is good. I don't won't to travel any further than 3 hours or so which I guess means I will go as far south as London and as far north as Belleville.

Oshawa has a really nice downtown arena. Video scoreboard, comfy seats, lots of concessions stands, restaurant overlooking the ice, first class all the way. I have also been to Bampton and Mississauga. Those rinks and nice and comfy as well with lots of parking. But there is no video screens and usually the arena is half empty which takes away from the atmosphere. I think a trip to Oshawa is the way to go.

Can't go wrong with Kitchener or London but sometimes tickets are hard to get. I've been to Sarnia, very nice new arena and have heard Barrie's rink is top notch.

Guelph has a pretty neat arena as it is built into a mall that is downtown. The atmosphere is pretty good as well.

My favourite is Kitchener. Its an old rink with character but has been renovated to have all the amenities of a newer arena. The atmosphere is really good with sellouts being the norm.
London is great but very difficult to get tickets for. It has more of an NHL feel to it because of the arena's size.
Oshawa is probably one of the best new rinks I have seen. There were no short cuts taken when they built this rink.
Barrie is another unique rink with one end having a large, glass enclosed restaurant.
If you like to eat, then Ottawa is the place to watch an OHL hockey game, but its a bit of a drive. The arena has almost every food imaginable, including subs and sandwiches, freshly squeezed lemonade and your choice of hard or soft ice cream.
