At the last game, someone mentioned to me that teams are only allowed a certain number of overagers (20 year olds) and underagers (which I guess is 16 year olds). I know teams are allowed 3 overagers but how many underagers are teams allowed and does the term underager refer to 16 year olds. Can you have players younger than 16 playing?

So is there a limit to the number of 16 year olds?

There is a limit. I believe the rule use to be all 16 year olds drafted in the first 3 rounds of the OHL draft, plus one wild card 16 year old (drafted in any round) in addition to all goalies drafted. But the rule might have changed. I will try to find out for you.

Latest post from the OHL Forum: From the 2007 Priority Selection Media Guide:
OHL Member Teams are permitted to register a maximum of four (4) 16 year old players selected in the OHL Priority Selection. Those 16 year old players that are allowed to dress and play are the first two (2) 16 year old players selected and a maximum of addition of two (2) "Wild Carded" players.
All other 16 year old players selected are eligible to be called up as an "affilliated player" or "floating affiliate player" for a maximum of 10 games or for any OHL regular season or playoff games when such player's team has been eliminated from competition for that season.

I was not aware that there was a minimum age limit. Do the IceDogs have any underagers and if so, who are they?
