I have attended several NCAA games in the past, mainly the Niagara U Purple Eagles. Would the OHL be on par with the NCAA in terms of level of play or is NCAA higher. Has there ever been an exhibition game between a NCAA team and an OHL team.

The NCAA is head and shoulders ahead of the OHL. The players are alot older, faster and stronger. It's comparing men vs boys.

I would disagree with that. There isn't much difference between the leagues. It depends on who you are watching. If you look at the elite programs like Michigan, Minnesota, BC and UNH they are every bit as good as any CHL team but if you watched the average NCAA team they aren't as good as a bad CHL team. A lot of NCAA players that come back to the CHL because of lack of game experience (NCAA teams don't play more then 35/40 games a year), seem to fit in nicely but are never a big star on the team. The IceDogs just got Jason Bergeron from U-Mass Lowell and he's a second line player at best. I would not say the CHL is a "better" league, but they do produce more NHLer's and play an equal brand of hockey.

Come out an see for yourself and you will notice that the NCAA does not compare with the level of Hockey played in the CHL, "OHL". If a player wants to go to school then the NCAA is the place to be, If he wants to make a career out of hockey then the Canadian Hockey League is the route to take.

I watch a lot of US college hockey on Leafs TV. Those teams would easily beat any OHL team. US College is closer to AHL hockey than it is to OHL hockey. I love the OHL and think it is a better league for fans. They play more games and the games are more entertaining. But as for calibre of hockey, College is superior.

A lot of Jr. B players who were not able to make the OHL get Scholarships to Niagara University, like Ryan Gale. If the NCAA is so great, why are these players not able to make the OHL but do well at the NCAA level. Late bloomers I guess?

I have a couple of questions,,,,,are you really a leaf fan? Have you ever watched an NCAA game in person? Where do most of the Drafted players come from? Where do the top drafted players come from? CHL is far better....period. The top 4 or 5 teams in NCAA can compete with the CHL but not the rest.

Pooch like it or not NCAA hockey is better. Players are older its not surprising to see a 20 year old freshman. When you compare a college 20 year old vs a 16 year old OHL rookie the college kid is ahead. Look at it this way how many 16 or 17 year kids can step up and play college hockey.... not many. Your top OHL players might have more potential..... therefore if you ask would a 16 year old OHL player be a better player when he turns 20 when you compare him to a college 20 year old first year player the answer would be yes for some. But thats not the question here, college hockey is alot better the players are men they are not kids.Heres something for you to chew on whats better .... canadian university hockey filled with ex OHL hockey players or NCAA hockey with players that never played in the OHL.

The Purple Eagles are in the worst college hockey divison I think people should know that, when they play good teams they get rolled every time.

2manystripes, I personally have skated with both kids from College and the OHL at the same time. It was Wayne States leading Scorer who was 22 and 15-16 year olds who are now in the second and third years in the OHL and The younger kids were far more talented. That is from a Goalie's perpspective!!! The top kids in both league could play where every they feel like and are still going to be dominate and move on regardless. Do you every watch two smaller schools play? The only hockey game, I've every walked out of because of bordom was Northern Mi @ LSSU in 2005-2006. Living in Mi, I watch anywhere from 80-120 OHL and College games live a year and I'll take the O anyday
Your argument is like saying that the Euro Leagues are better than the NHL! The reason a guy scores 50 Goals in the NHL and 12g in European Elite leagues is because they are playing with better talent in the NHL
Also if you remember, in 1998 they was a US college All-Star vs. Canadian University All-Stars at Joe Louis in Detroit. Canada won!!!!
