Gary McCarthy the Director of Media Relations for the Niagara IceDogs has left the IceDogs two weeks before training camp has started. As it looks now. Jon Kursikowski - Director of Ticket Sales is doing all the press releases and updating the website. Yeah I know call the dogs office and ask for him, hes gone from the Front Office.

Gary's last day was Aug 10th and had given his notice well before that date. He was instrumental in setting up a number of relationships with the various media outlets in the region, including getting Cogeco and 610 AM to broadcast the IceDogs games. I think its unfair for anyone to criticize his decision to leave without knowing the full circumstances as to why he left. Going from a newspaper reporter to working for a start-up hockey team is a major career adjustment. He has now returned to the Mississauga News as a sports reporter.

Gary was a great guy, he rode all the bus rides with the Ice Dogs and help the rookies feel at home on the over night games,as he promoted the team well. I think it all comes down to money and with a new team and start up cost.Someone has to go as they clash heads.Good luck to Gary as now he will be covering the St. Mikes Majors.
