Stopped by the rink Saturday and checked out the progress. Wow, what a mess! With about 2 1/2 weeks left before training camp, it's hard to believe all the work could be done in time.
The boards look to be mostly done and they're still working on the penalty box but they look like they should be ready in time.
Underneath the seats is a different story. It looks like a bomb went off in there. There are walls knocked out, holes in the floor, new walls put up in some spots and basically appears like they've just started the work and have a long way to go. I just can't see the new dressing rooms being ready in time for training camp.
There is some form of construction going on in different areas throughout the building and everything is covered in dust.
The first exhibition game is in less than a month. I'll bet they'll be scrambling to get it done in time.

Besides the dressing room, boards and penalty box, what other renovations are they doing. Will anything be improved for the fans. New concession stands? New scoreclock? New box office where you don't have to line-up outside?

New box office where you don't have to line-up outside? I appears, on the surface anyway, that most of the work being done is for the team. There are certain things (like the penalty boxes) that have to meet OHL standards. I understand that they are adding satellite concession stands and hanging TV's around that will show the game and also football games. All of your other concerns look to be "status quo." It would be nice if they could add a shot clock. That seems a minor fix that shouldn't be too hard to do. It looks like any major improvement for fans will have to wait a bit. They're looking into replacement seats for next year. The biggest improvement the fans will see this year is the best brand of junior hockey this area will ever see. That, my friend, is what it's all about and I can't wait!

My understanding is, there is the Ontario Lacrosse finals tournament scheduled for the Jack Gatecliff this Friday Satuday and Sunday. Will it be ready??? Don't think so! But you never know!

Anyone know the status at the arena right now. Was anyone there on the weekend. With 8 days until training camp starts, I hope everything is almost complete.

A good renovation for the fans, should be a new restaurent over looking the ice surface. Just above the Falcons Nest, all is needed is 3x exterior walls and a roof, remove the north wall and you have a perfect view of the ice while having a cold one.
