I'll be coming from out of town for games and I thought it would be interesting if there was a thread that would point out some of the parking areas around the Jack (free ones) that were within a 10 minute walk. I'm from the Falls but am not too familiar with the streets around the rink as I've probably only been there about 3 times in my life so a listing of possible parking spots would be much appreciated for those like me who know nothing of the area. Let's make a list. ;D
Thanks.

chooch, its nice to hear from a person who is not a whiner and is willing to walk ten minutes. i went to junior a games in the playoffs at this arena when it was sold out and believe me there are plenty of spots to park within ten minutes of the arena. if you go to the opposite side of the main drag(st paul) that the arena is on youll find plenty. king, queen ,academy , james ,court just to name a few. then you have the lower level parking lot within ten minutes. go dogs go!!!!

Its like an out of towner trying to find parking, driving around in circles for a Montibello Park event. Ribfest or Wine festival always ends up with vehicles ticketed or towed and these people don't come back. Because the arena is in the city core with very limited parking, its more of a "city" team for those who can walk from home, or those who can name the streets and have knowledge of the downtown. Icedogs website could show a map highlighting city lots (and number of vehicles capacity). That would be a start in addressing the parking issue.

London Knights sell out every night (9,100) and have the same parking issues as St. Catharines. We are only looking at 2,800 here when sold out, so why should there be a problem? How far do you walk when you go to a Buffalo Sabres game? Everything will be done to make it as easy a possible, but you can only play with the cards you are dealt. Did you go by the St. Catharines arena lately? New roof, new Ice Dogs dressing room and offices, penalty box torn out and a bigger one is going in and they are even putting in new boards. Hats off the to the City of St. Catharines for doing their part in making this partnership work.

Thanks for the reply's guys, but I'm hoping this thread will be a listing of possible areas to park, not a comparison to other city's. People get ticketed at the Ribfest and other events because of laziness and not wanting to walk too far so they park in areas that are off limits. I attend plenty of these out of town summer events and always seem to find places to park, even if it means walking for 10 minutes which wont kill me. I'm willing to walk to the Jack for the games, much like I've done in Buffalo and Toronto for sporting events and concerts so that is not the issue. I posted this because I'm just not too familliar with the area around the rink and I wanted a few ideas on where to start looking.

Hey chooch...I'll assume you know where these places are or at least have access to a map. I've given approximate walk times (not too accurate, though).
Across Geneva St. from the arena, next to the 406, there is a smallish, narrow lot (5min). Continue on down the street (The Parkway) to the larger, lower level parking lot (10 min).
On Carlisle St. next to the MTO building there is a parking garage (10 min).
Behind the parking garage on Garden Park there is another lot (10 min). These are all public lots.
Of course, there is on-street parking all over downtown.
I think you might be someone who comes to a game early enough so you shouldn't have trouble finding a spot somewhere nearby.
I get the biggest kick out of people who show up at the last minute and get frustrated driving around the arena looking for a close spot. I'm not talking about out-of-town folks here...they're locals and they should know better. I've seen it time and again...they never learn.

I wont be able to attend all games but I can see myself coming down a bit early, finding a good parking spot somewhere and downing a few pops at a nearby bar before walking over to the Jack. I do this for Jr. B games in the Falls and enjoy this ritual. Thank you for the information, it's much appreciated.

There is a church on Queenston street almost across from the CHSC building that I sometimes park at. If your really desparate, you can park at Delta Bingo which is probably a 10 min walk.
