The article in Niagara This Week about the IceDogs Tuesday Launch had a few good quotes from Burke. The article is on the main page of this site.
Here is one of the quotes from Burke "Every OHL team operates with about a $2 million budget and our disadvantage is that we have the exact same costs as any other OHL team, probably even two or three hundred thousand more because we're just starting up," said Burke.
"Financially it's tough, but we knew that going in. But we don't have a rink that is large enough for the fan base to support what the costs are. Ottawa has 10,000 (seats), London has 9,000, Barrie has 4,500 and they sell out every game. We don't have that. We have 2,800 tickets and three hundred are (given away) so we have 2,500 tickets to sell. Do the math and we're probably about $750,000 of two million."
Some of you have complained about the tickets being a little on the expensive side. I really don't think Burke has a choice in this matter. He needs to charge a little more because he has so few seats to sell. I think if he gets good support, a new arena will be built. Then I think we will see lower priced tickets.

I also noticed that he talked about the Dogs being a regional team, and not just a St. Catharines team. I think Burke really understands how this area operates and is really stressing the regional concept. It appears to be working. Those who I have talked to from the Falls feel that the Dogs are their team and are excited about the upcoming season.
