Just noticed that overage defenceman Kyle Lamb is now on the Ice Dogs roster. In an earlier article on Local Sports Report, it said that Lamb was undecided if he would return to the team. Then when the roster first came out, he was not on it. It looks like he has made his decision and he will return. Now the Dogs have 7 returning defenceman.
For those of you who have seen the Ice Dogs play last year, how was their defence.

It appears that the Ice Dogs have now filled all 3 overage cards. All 3 seem to be great players. Its so nice having a team that will be an instant contender. Wouldn't it be great if we are watching the team on TV in the memorial cup come next May.

Defence will be very strong again. They were a tough team to play on down low last season.
And why watch on television..make the couple hours trip to Kitchener and cheer on the boys live!

The biggest question on the Ice Dogs mine this year how healthy they can stay. This is a new and smaller rink than they are used to in the Hersey Center.I think there will be alot of banging and crashing like playing in the fish tank in Port Colborne! I just hope their back up plan works or it could be along season

I just hope their back up plan works or it could be along season I heard that the Jack is getting a face lift. They raised the roof already and all the boards are out. I don't know if they plan on expanding the ice surface, but it would be a good idea with the boards removed. I also heard that the council passed a motion to take out the wooden seating and replace them with single seats like at the 4 Pad. This was passed before they knew that we were getting the Icedogs

They have not "raised the roof", they are not expanding the ice surface, they are not taking out the wooden seats. But everything else you said is true. ;D
They were going to replace the boards with or without the IceDogs because they are in such disrepair. To expand the ice surface they would have to remove rows of seats which they already don't have enough of. They may be doing something to the roof my assure you they are not raising it. The removal of the wooden seats was the rumor going around months ago. The IceDogs and the city have said they are not changing the seating.

I drove by the arena the other day and it looked like they were replacing the shingles on the roof, but the roof is not being raised.
On the Its You Call show last Monday, Rob said that there were a few improvements going on at the arena. The new IceDogs dressing room was under way, the penalty box had been tore out as it is not up to OHL standards, and drop down televisions were being installed throughout the arena which will show the IceDogs game as well as NFL games on Sunday. Previously, I was told that for this year the seats at the arena would be repaired (a number are broken) and next summer they hope to get some of the wooden seats replaced with new seats.
