I do believe that based on tonights display of SPEED that the Hawks may have difficulty containing the Falcons!!!!!!!!!f
Scarsella was brillant and Thorold's board play was not good----time and time again the Hawks came up empty when digging for pucks or clearing pucks from their zone!!!!!!!!!!
If their zone play remains the same this series will be over in 4!!!!!!!!!
Without Scarsella this game was over at the end of the second period!!!!!!!!!
Pick up your socks Hawks or get the Golf Clubs out----the fat lady is getting ready to sing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game had all the inklings of the Canucks series. I guess Hubbert shouldn't have had the whole the team go out and watch last fridays Canucks/Falcons game, or at least he should have told them which team to watch. Maybe its just sloppy play from two easy rounds entering into the finals but I don't remember seeing so many players just standing around waiting for the puck to come to them during the season. Scarsella was great in net and McAvoy proves to be the Blackhawks Achilles heel. If this kid is playing because of his shot he better start using it because thats all hes got, the Braun kid is a smarter D man. Thorolds D coach better start working or packing that was the most futile effort. Never seen so many give aways or four players hemmed in by one offensive checker. Falcons could pick this series apart if they continue to show the intensity they displayed tonight. Leveille played great and Defazio was never really tested, only 25 shots. This season, Thorold hasn't won many games where they haven't taken more than 40 shots.

Three Blind Mice you say Defazio was never tested, ask him? The best player for the Falcon's tonight was Sheehan hands down ....Love watching this guy ,if your talking NHL this kid is the guy....I don't know how long The Falcon's can run with 2 lines but sheehan seems to be able to handle the extra ice, which is amazing considering he plays along the walls and in the danger zones all night...Thought Gary getting his top line on the ice with The hawks 4th line for the tying goal was smart, although i think cole would have done the same thing..I wouldn't say this series is not over yet ,i thought the Hawks looked real sloppy, but i would expect they are not going to lay down after game one.. I don't think they thought they could win the GHL without a loss...Friday should be a good test, for both team if Thorold can get on track and win its going to be tough for the Falcon's on Saturday in Thorold ,i think even Sheehan would be tired after back to back 40 minute games..He is amazing though ,worth the price of a ticket. Its hard to believe this kid is 16...

One game does not make a series. If your a d man on Thorold and you get the puck behind the net and have to pass the puck thru the whole St.Catharine's team as your team is on the other blue line it would be hard as well .Help you d man and come back to your zone.Easy to coach in the stands three blind mice.

Mia did you read my entire post? ? Thats why i said the Thorold D coach should go. I don't think the players drempt up this escape plan themselves. Obviously some changes needed. Maybe I'll go to see who's behind the bench next year. I guess Port pays the same as Thorold then??? I'm getting my level 3, you never know.

Well said, and that is why we have day jobs as it is only a game for these kids to grow and mature.I have watched alot of hockey games over the passed 40 years and I do have to say that this is one of the fast two teams of Jr.B hockey in a while. It is nice to see the refs are letting them play some hockey, I hope it will continue!

Three blind mice i couldnt agree more... the falcons looked dominant last night... the thing that helps thorold is their strong PP... if the falcons stay out of the box and keep the speed up.. it should b a short series cause the hawks cannot keep up and they will get out coached every game... Hubs sure looked nice and calm and was makin faces towards the fans behind the bench when he was winnin but right back to the old Hubs when the game was tied and got into OT.. he new his team was in trouble!

hockeydoc the Falcons played three lines all night long and I would not consider Leveille's line the top line they have a 1A and 1B. The extra ice time is coming on the PK and PP. Remember everyone sees the game differently. If you like the game on the boards you are right Sheahan was terriffic last night perhaps his best game so far in the playoffs. He is a 200lb bull on the boards. I was happy to see him score on the PP he deserved if for his work effort all game. Floris worked hard on the boards in the defensive zone as well. If you like seeing the creativity with the puck Leveille was dangerous everytime he had the puck from the second period on. Stevenson should have had 3 goals from setups last night and has been on fire ever since being put with Leveille and Jackson. Watching Leveille opens up the ice for the back door passes to him and Chris has been taking full advantage of it. Steele made all the saves he should have and a couple he maybe should not have late to give the Falcons a chance to win. All and all a good opening game for the Falcons. I was surprised after reading about Thoralds good conditioniing it appeared that they tired more then the Falcons last night.

Hockeyguy or who ever ,, I didn't say the levielle line was the best line ,i said Sheahan was the Falcon's best player hands down...In the corners on the boards ,up the middle ,, PK and PP..As for the conditioning i agree the Hawks looked tired or maybe its they play four line and guys just aren't getting into the game..Or maybe the Falcon's are just too fast for them ...We will all know more after Friday's game. I do think we have the better coach in Gary...I liked a lot of his moves last night ,..Ufortunately i will not be able to attend the next two games so i hope you guys on here can give an unbiased opinion on the next two games..

Sorry hockeydoc when you said Gary put his top line out against the Hawks forth line for the tying goal I thought you were implying Jackson/Leveille/Stevenson was the top line. I stand corrected. However I disagree with you that Cole would have done the same. He seemed to get psyched out by Hubbard all year. Unbiased opinions by hockey fans, I don't think anyone will ever live long enough to see that. I sure have not and most definately not on this forum everyone have their bias. Sorry you will miss two great games.

I'm not sure why you are so upset. I think "guru" is doing a great job trying to keep the threads organized and on topic. Hopefully he will keep it up as I think his game day thread titles improve the forum greatly.

If your worried about wasting your time, shut off your computer. I also would like to say good for you ttoffolo for defending youself and your team. A little over the top, eh pal. I was simply pointing out, in what I thought was a good natured way, that someone here has taken it upon themselves to create a game day thread. A game day thread usually is for comments on the game within the title. There are only so may topics that stay on the front page so if your post can fit under an existing thread it's common message board courtesy to post accordingly. Here's one of the rules from a major hockey message board, probably applies here too.......... "11. Duplicate Posts: Check the first 2 pages of the board before posting and make sure someone has not already done a post similar to yours. Pages can be accessed at the immediate bottom right on the board. Duplicate or similar threads are subject to being merged or closed at the discretion of the moderator." As for my user name, I joined this board a day or two after the Fort Erie's coaches rant. I was thinking of a user name and the simply fact that Groulx was right in his rant about the officials, I decided to go with that.

i think that pettione's post was valid unto itself because it only made a brief mention of the GAME. the thread (topic) was more indicative of what thorold needs to do in the SERIES. people need to stop complaining about all the "reading" you have to do. for most, this is the only reading we do other than the sports pages of the local fishwrap.

and for you grouxlisright, WHO are you, and more important WHERE are you. if you look at the main board of this forum there are dates and times as to the last post, so if the topic was of interest to you, you're going to read it anyway, regardless of when the initial thread was created. i don't think the people reading this stuff have such enthralling lives that they can't take a few extra seconds to read more than one thread.
