"...going to be a long series"
It won't be too long a series if Thorold doesn't start protecting the puck. In the third period & OT, it looked like the Blackhawks were having a contest to see which player could commit the most turnovers. If that trend continues, we could see a few brooms appearing early next week.

Scarscella was simply outstanding tonight, making many Ludzik-like saves which the Falcons have seen alot of lately. Can't see Menard getting any playing time soon.

Great game to watch last night... coulda went both ways thanks to some great goaltending on both ends... falcons looked to hav more chances even strengh but with Thorolds strong powerplay it made the game very interesting... falcons look to hav more legs and if it continues to be a long series i cant c the blake hawks takin it... awful end of the third period and a brutal OT by the black hawks.. u cant b cute like u were in ur first 2 series cause the falcons will capitalize and that is what happened last night... should b a great game on friday.. i think they announced the attendence around 1700 fans... just a great atmosphere!!!

I'm not sure why you are so upset. I think "guru" is doing a great job trying to keep the threads organized and on topic. Hopefully he will keep it up as I think his game day thread titles improve the forum greatly.

What a fantastic game to watch, very fast and a lot of players with great hands doing what they do best. Graham had 2 great snips on the PP, st.kitts will have to stay out of the box this series because of the powerful blackhawk PP. This game was Thoralds in the first 2 periods but they broke down and St.kitts owned the 3rd and OT. Hockeyjocky is right, the turnovers by Thorold were ugly. I can believe the attendence was somewhere around 1700, the place was packed.Great series ahead of us here.

You are right it was a great game fast pace.I would suggest if you want to watch quality players on both sides for this series, to come out, as some of these players will be moving on to the next level next year!

okay if i have permission from all the internet police i would like to say something about the game... that would be thorold vs st. catharines... jr b hockey...anyway, this was the first time i had seen thorold this season and i was surprised at how many times their defence pinched at what appeared to be the wrong time. it is nice to have confidence in your backcheck and your goalie, but there were so many odd man rushes i lost count. 5 on 5 thorold rarely had the puck and the falcons coaching staff seemed very prepared and knew how to organize their team to defend. thorold looks to live and die with the powerplay. that's nice and all, but not all refs are going to give you 10-15 powerplays in a championship series game. the falcons looked very confident, which comes from believing in what your coaching staff is telling you, something cole lacked (that's obvious to me). the officials were good tonight with the exception of the penalty graham drew to lead to the first thorold goal. first he cross checks a falcon player hard enough to knock him over and then throws against the net to trick the ref into believing there was a retaliation. and then he skates away very quickly with a big smile on his face like that kind of behaviour is something to be proud of. remember you are a canadian HOCKEY player, not a south american soccer player (my apologies to south american soccer players who DONT do that). i'm glad he only did that once. graham was the best thorold player tonight aside from that, all over the ice, backchecking. nobody else for thorold was really visible. everybody should lay off hubbard. yes he is his own worst enemy, and he sets himself up for this type of abuse, but he is doing the best he can. the teams he has coached have all worked very hard for him, so he must be doing something right. the question is, is it enough? we'll see.

Seb, congratulate both coaches all you like I noticed that both team had a too many men penalty. I realize that these are not always the coaches fault but it does reflect badly on the coach.

Don't forget to mention Thorold had three goals dissallowed because the unofficials were out of position to see the puck cross the line. The one that flipped up and in off Defazios back was definetly in I was there. Because a goalie is covering a puck does not mean its not a goal.

Were you even at the same game!!! So i guess the goal judges must have been out of position too??? Just keep making more excuses, thorold got out played and didnt capitalize on there chances, simple as that.

Tonite's contest will determine who will win the series. If st. kitts goes up 2 games it's over in 5. If Thorold wins tonite it will be over in 5. These two teams are well matched, each having their own strenghts & weaknesses. I said before, thorolds depth has been an advantage all season long amongst these 2 clubs. That was not evident in the last game. Thorold players were tired & not accountable defensively. St. kitts had a game plan & executed.Coaching will be the difference. The winning team after tonites game will bring the Sutherland Cup back to the GHL. It will all be about momentum.

just because the offensive players raise their hands doesn't mean that the puck is in. the refs have fallen for a bit of the thorold antics to try to get the upper hand (like embellishing to draw penalties), but they didn't fall for that.
