Just trying to find out how the 2 16 year old rule works. If my son makes the team does he have to sign a b card. Can a midget card be signed and still play jr.b. Are the roster sizes going to 23 from 21. If so, that means more kids get scratched. Not really sure what to think if players sat out alot last year as 16 year olds it would be worse this year actually with the larger roster size so kids that sat last year as 16 year olds could be sitting again.Does anyone have the facts.

Yes, you can sign a midget card and still play Jr. B. And the roster sizes are going to 23 players. Larger roster sizes, more players will sit. You can't have 23 players on the bench. Most 16 year olds are better off playing at least one year Major Midget, that is why Hockey Canada made this rule change. Looks like 23 players on Falcon's roster at the moment, many of the locals will be sitting. Sure you can say your on whatver team, but if your not playing, your not developing and certainly not having too much fun! Cole will probably play the 4th line local kids at the pre-season tournament, just to keep them happy until the real season starts.

Wrong. No permanent midget cards allowed anymore. You can be an AP player for injuries but it will be limited to a certain number of games.

if a team has 16 year olds on the team that played last year, are they allowed to resign them and two more 16 year olds this year?

the two sixteen year olds refers to the age. If a team opts to use two midget players who are 16 as AP's then so be it, but they will not have any 16 year olds on their roster or vise versa. the rule is a maximum of two sixteen year olds per team, last seasons 16 year olds who played, are grandfathered in and do not count in this ruling.

exactly! There are no more midget cards aloud anymore! Usually it is 16 year-old kids on midget cards and with the new rule that your aloud tohave to 16 year olds, thats why they up'd the roster size two spots from 21 to 23. If you look at it...same amount of players will be sitting cuz the two midget card (before) players would be sitting anywayz!!
