have heard from a very reliable source.... that things are not well between the Dogs and the Falcons... Things are so bad that the Ice Dogs want to change their home night to ..... yep you guessed it .... FRIDAYS!!!!
They have already spoken with the folks at Brock to make sure that they try their best not to play on nights that Brock would be at home....
I guess the Honeymoon is over big time... and the big Ice Dogs are now going to throw their weight around abit...
PS.... I could never understand why the Falcons would not want to play at Sey/Hanines... 1100 people in a 1300 seat arena ...looks and sounds alot better than 1100 people in a 3000 seat arena... it is new, clean. and has a lot of parking... mew

If the Falcons don't like it, too bad. They are second fiddle now and should have known this would eventually happen so they need to stop whining. You're right, they should move to the newer rink and just carry on.

This is all very unfortunate. They should and really need to get along. It's tough for the Falcons to play at the 4 pad, especially during the playoffs, where they frequently get 2000+. Some would say just switch back to Garden City then (playoffs), but it would be like playing an away game (dressing room, equipment, feel for the arena, etc...).
Switching nights is not very easy for either teams, especially the Dogs as lots of other "established" teams have their home games on Friday's; not everybody can have Friday's at home.
It would especially hurt the Falcon's attendance, both changing nights and/or changing arenas, and more so if they played on the same night. I for one, and I'm sure htere are others, try to go to both the Falcons and Dogs home games...
And what about their agreement with call-ups/down??
I hope all this is simply hearsay...

Kevin, could you merge the 2 threads about this same topic and title posted in the dogs forum and the localsports forum? Thanks

Sorry but there is no merge option. I can move a thread to another board but it cannot be merged with another thread. However the new version of LocalSportReport will have that capability.

You're right, they should move to the newer rink and just carry on. I would bet most OHL clubs would like friday night home games. Not really sure a brand new club will be able to pull that much wait. Someone's gotta be the road team.

When the Don Cherry group was talking about bringing a team here they stated in the paper that they would have Fridays/Sundays as their home nights so I don't think it is as big of a scheduling problem as you might think. Also, the IceDogs when they played in Mississauga used Fridays as their main night and they were a newer team.
I think the Dogs should keep Sunday as their main home night and use Friday as there secondary night instead of Thursday. That way, they would use about 10-12 Fridays, allowing the Falcons to have the other 12 or so Fridays.
I would hope the Falcons would not have a problem splitting Fridays. They should not have exclusive rights to this night.

I just re-read your reply Kevin. The New version, eh?? A completely new website infact. We've kept the most popular functions and added a number of new elements. We should be doing a mini launch within 6 weeks if all goes well. We will then take your suggestions to come up with the final version.
